List of Member Organizations The Smart Television Alliance is a new coalition of national nonprofit organizations united by a shared commitment to protecting the well-being of our nation’s children. Our partners include the following organizations:
Afterschool Alliance The Afterschool Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of afterschool programs and advocating for quality, affordable programs for all children. Providers of afterschool programs such as Boys & Girls Clubs of East Los Angeles, the YMCA of Central Maryland, and over sixty thousand others fall under the umbrella of the Afterschool Alliance. Funding comes from public, private and nonprofit organizations that share the Alliance's vision of ensuring that all children have access to afterschool programs by 2010.
Association for Jewish Family and Children’s Agencies The Association for Jewish Family and Children’s Agencies is a membership organization of over 140 Jewish Family and Children’s Agencies, and specialized Jewish human service agencies, in the United States and Canada. Member JF&CS agencies provide social services to children, adults and the elderly in the Jewish and general community. Tracing their roots back to the 19th century, JF&CS agencies began by assisting Jewish refugees and immigrants, orphans, and the poor and needy. Today, JF&CS agencies continue to provide preventative as well as social services to people of all ages and to those with special needs.
Coalition for Quality Children's Media: KIDS FIRST! The Coalition for Quality Children's Media: KIDS FIRST! is a national, nonprofit organization founded in 1991 whose mission is to teach children critical viewing skills and to increase the visibility and availability of quality children's media. The Coalition is a voluntary collaboration of more than 10,000 media professionals, lobbyists, policymakers, child advocates, educators, parents and children nationwide. KIDS FIRST! evaluates, rates and endorses children's feature films, DVDs, videos, CDs and TV shows using community-based juries of child development professionals, teachers, parents and kids from diverse backgrounds. KIDS FIRST! Film Festival has become the world's largest traveling children's film festival by collaborating with more than 100 venues nationwide.
Common Sense Media Common Sense Media is a national organization led by concerned parents and individuals with experience in child advocacy, public policy, education, media and entertainment, dedicated to improving the media and entertainment lives of kids and families. National Council of Women’s Organizations (NCWO) The National Council of Women’s Organizations (NCWO) is the leading coalition of women’s organizations in the United States. A nonpartisan and non-profit organization, NCWO collectively represents over eleven million women in more than 200 member-organizations. The only national coalition of its kind, NCWO is a tax-exempt organization with twenty years' experience uniting American women's groups.
National Education Association (NEA) The National Education Association (NEA), the nation's largest professional employee organization, is committed to advancing the cause of public education. NEA's 3.2 million members work at every level of education—from pre-school to university graduate programs. NEA has affiliate organizations in every state and in more than 14,000 communities across the United States. BR> BR> Office of Communication of the United Church of Christ (OC Inc.) Parent Teacher Association (PTA) RainbowPUSH Coalition The RainbowPUSH Coalition is a combination of a grassroots and a political organization merged together in 1997, which seeks to protect, defend and gain civil rights and to even the economic and educational playing fields in all aspects of American life and to bring peace to the world.
United American Nurses, AFL-CIO The United American Nurses, AFL-CIO is the union for nurses, by nurses, with staff nurses establishing its agenda and steering its course. UAN works to shape the future of all staff nurses and the health care system for the better by improving the economic and general welfare of nurses, providing a quality work environment, protecting nurse and patient safety and influencing nursing practice standards.
WE Inc. WE Inc. is a nonprofit business association that works to improve and enhance the economic climate for women entrepreneurship. By advocating for policy solutions that encourage business ownership by women, and providing information and resources to entrepreneurs at all stages of their business development, WE Inc. aims to increase economic opportunity and financial security for those seeking the risky but rewarding path of entrepreneurship.
YWCA USA The YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women's organization in the world. Across the globe, we have more than 25 million members in 122 countries, including 2.6 million members and participants in 300 local associations in the United States. More important than the numbers, is our mission to eliminate racism and empower women. We provide safe places for women and girls, build strong women leaders, and advocate for women's rights and civil rights in Congress. Women come to us in times of crisis, as survivors of rape or domestic violence. They come for job training and career counseling. They come for childcare. They come for health and fitness. They come for a variety of reasons. But they come. And they leave with a renewed spirit, new skills, and stronger lives. |
